AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SALARIES FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE
VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of'Cook and DuPage,
Illinois:
Section 1. That the salaries for Lieutenants and Firemen of the
Fire Department of the Village of Elk Grove Village shall be and
are hereby established as follows:
Lieutenant Fireman
Per Annum Per Annum
Less than one year of
experience in rank $8,220 $6,772
One year but less than
two years experience in rank 8,630 7,102
Two years but less than
three years experience in rank 9,064 7,456
Three years experience in rank 9,520 7,900*
*Said increase to $7,900 for firemen with three years experience
shall be based upon merit and upon the recommendation of the Fire
Chief and the approval of the Village Manager.
Experience as used herein shall include services as a fireman with
any municipal regular or paid -on-call Fire Department except that only
one year of credit shall be given for every two years of service
with Paid -on -Call Fire Departments.
Section 2. Within ten (10) days from passage of this ordinance or
at the time of hiring a new fireman the Police and Fire Commission
of the Village shall ascertain and verify a fireman's prior experience,
if any. Experience shall be computed to the nearest month. Periods
of less than fifteen (15) days shall be disregarded. Periods of
more than fifteen (15) days shall be computed as a full months ex-
perience. Upon ascertainment of a fireman's experience the Secretary
of the Police and'Fire Commission shall transmit to the Village
Treasurer the following information:
A. The name of the fireman.
B. The effective date of employment with the Village
of Elk Grove Village's Fire Department.
C. Prior experience expressed in months.
Duplicate copies of the foregoing shall be sent to the Fire Chief,
the Village Manager and the Village Clerk.

Section 3. All pay increases resulting either.directly or in-
directly from experience acquired as a member of the Fire Depart-
ment of the Village shall be effective on the first day of the
pay period wherein falls the fireman's annual in rank experience
anniversary. In determining the fireman's experience anniversary
date, prior experience with municipal fire departments shall be
considered.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval according to law.
