HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 482 - 7/5/1967 - RETAILERS OCCUPATION TAX- v,nrz.-gin-. -_ - - •�•� ORDINANCE NUMBER AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A THREE-FOURTHS PERCENT (3/4%) TAX UPON ALL PERSONS ENGAGED _IN SELLING TANGIBLE PERSONAL PROPERTY IN THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois: Section 1. That Article VII, Municipal Retailer's Occupation Tax of Chapter 22 of the Municipal Code of Elk Grove Village is hereby amended to read as follows: " ARTICLE VII MUNICIPAL RETAILER'S OCCUPATION TAX "22.701 Tax.) A tax is hereby imposed upon all persons engaged in the business of selling tangible personal property at retail in this Village at therate of three-fourths (3/4) of one percent of the gross receipts of such sales made in the course of such business while this article is in effect in accordance with the provisions of Section 8-11-1 of the Illinois Municipal Code (Chapter 24, Section 8-11-1 of the Illinois Revised Statutes.) Every such person engaged in such business in the Village shall file on or before the fifteenth day of each calendar month, the report to the State Department of Revenue required by Section three of "An Act in Relation to a Tax Upon Persons Engaged in the Business of Selling Tangible Personal Property to Purchasers for Use or Consumption" approved June 20, 1933, as amended, and shall file a duplicate of such report with the Village Clerk. "22.703 Payment to state.)- At the time such report is filed, there shall be paid to the State Department of Revenue the amount of tax hereby imposed on account of the receipts from sales of tangible personal property during the preceding month." Section 2. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to transmit to the State Department of Revenue a certified copy of this ordinance, and any other requirements, not later than five (5) days after the effective date of this ordinance. Section 3. This ordinance shall be published within ten (10) days of its enactment as provided in Section 1-2-4 of the Illinois Municipal Code (Chapter 24, Section 1-2-4 of the Illinois Revised Statutes), and shall be effective from and after the first day of the calendar month next following the expiration of the ten (10) day publication period.
