AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 14 ARTICLE II, OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILUGE, RELATING TO THROUGH STREETS
AND STOP INTERSECTIONS
NOW, TH.F.REFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook
and Du Page, Illinois:
Section 1. That Article II of Chapter 14 of the Municipal
Cade of t e i age of Elk Grove Village be amended to read as
follows:
CHAPTER 14, Article II - Through Streets, One -Way Streets, and
Stop Intersections
14.201 Through Streets.) +he streets And parts of streets of
the Village designated by ordinance As through streets
are hereby declared,to be through streets. The driver
of any vehicle shall stop at t e ahtrance to a through
street -And shdll yield the,rig t-of-wdy to any other
veh cies or pedestrians which 'ava eh erad the in er-
see ion or Which are approaching 3o cXbsa on a th odgh
stteet as to constitute an imme iAte hazard, hniess
directed by the traffic officer or a traffic control
signal. The driver of any vehicle shall come to a
complete stop whether or not real hazards are present.
14.202 Designated Through Streets.) The following streets, roads
and highways or portions thereof are hereby designated and
declared to be through streets;
1) All portions of Higgins Road (Illinois Route 72)
which lie East of Arlington Heights Road (also
known as State Road) and West of Elmhurst Road
(also known as E:: :.tet Road)in the Village of
Elk Grove Village.
2) Oakton Road East of its intersection with Arlington
Heights Road, eastwardly to the Village limits.
3) Landmeier Road East of its intersection with
Arlington Heights Road continuously eastward
to its intersectidn.with Higgins Road (also
known as Illinois Route 72), except for the
intersection of Busse Road also known as
Illinois Route 83).
4) All portions of Elk Grove Boulevard East of its
Latersection with Arlington Heights Road and lying
ulthin the Village except for the following

j Ridge Avenue,
c) Tonne Road.

5) E-wai-mo nt Drive East of its intersection with
Cypress Lane and Eastward to the intersection
with Tonne Road, with the exception of the
intersection of Ridge Avenue.

6) Cloarnt Drive East of its intersection with
Arlington Heights Road and continuously eastward
to the intersection of Essex Road.
7) Devon Avenue from the West Village Limits
easterly to the intersection with Elmhurst
Road (also known as York Road), with the
exceptions of the following intersections:
a) Arlington Heights Road,
b) Tonne Road Wood Dale Road),
c) Busse Road (also known as Illinois Route 83)
8) Briarwbod Lane between its intersections with
Wildwood Road on the East and Forest Lane on the West.
9) Laurel Street east of its intersection with
Charing Cross Road continuously eastward to
the intersection with Tonne Road, with the
exception of the intersection of Ridge Avenue.
10) Voiest Lade South of its ititet' ectiozi with
Higgiizs Rbdd (also known as tlliriois Route 72)
and North of its intersection With Oakton Road.
11) Arlington Heights Road from the Village Limits on
the North to Devon Avenue on the South except its
intersections with John F. Kennedy Boulevard and
Cosman Road, provided, however, that Westbound"
traffic on Arlington Heights Road at the Cosman Road
intersection shall stop before proceeding to the North
or South.
12) Wildwood Road South of its intersection with Higgins
Road (also known as Illinois Route 72) and North
of its intersection with Landmeier Road, except for
its intersection with Oakton Road.
13) Tonne Road South of its intersection with Landmeier
Road and North of its intersection with Devon Avenue,
except such paved portions in Tonne Road which lie
within the median strip and which are extensions of
the various intersecting streets, to wit: Laurel,
Chase, Elk Grove Boulevard, Hartford Lane, Clear -
F, Drive, and Walnut Lane; and, also to include the
unnamed paved portion between the northbound and the
southbound lanes which is between Chase Avenue and
Elk Grove Boulevard.
14) Ridge Avenue South of its intersection with Landmeier
Road and North of its intersection with Devon Avenue
,=ept the intersections of Cleat Drive, Elk
Grove Boulevard, and Laurel Street.

Xannedy Boulevard and North of its intersection with
Walnut Lane,

with Arlington Heights Road and West of its inter-
section with Elk Grove Boulevard.

the corporate limits of the Village of Elk Grove
Village, except the intersections of Landmeier Road
and Devon Avenue,

corporate limits of the Vil ae of E k Grove Village,

Every driver of any vehicle traversing Any street inter-
section with any through street shall stop such vehicle
before entering upon the through street within ten (10)
feet of such intersection, unless a 1p" signal is given
at such intersection by a traffic officer or traffic
signal.
14.203 One-way Streets or Alleys.) It shall be unlawful to
operate any vehicle on any street or alley designated
as a one-way street or alley by ordinance, in any
direction other than that so designated,
14.204 Stop Intersections.) It shall be unlawful to drive any
vehicle into the intersection at any intersection desig-
nated by the President and Board of Trustees as stop
intersections without first bringing such vehicle to a
complete stop within ten feet of said intersection. The
following intersections are designated as stop inter-
sections:
01) All traffic on Nicholas Boulevard shall stop before
entering in or across the following intersections:
a) Higgins Road (also known as Illinois Route 72)
b) Landmeier Road
c} Touhy Avenue
d) Estes Avenue
e) Greenleaf Avenue

02) All traffic on McCabe Avenue shall stop before
entering in or across the following intersections:

14.206 Posit Signs.) The Chief of Police or any other person
designated by the President and Board of Trustees shall
post or cause to be posted suitable signs for all such
through streets, one-way streets or alleys, and stop and
yield intersections.
?!,.207 F-aes and Penalties.) Any person, firm or corporation
v-olating any provision of this ordinance shall be fined
not less than $1.00 nor more than $200.00 for each offense.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval and publication according to
