AREAORDINANCE NO. 440 AN ORDINANCE LOWERING SPEED LIMITS IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS AND AMENDING SECTION 14.322 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village has conducted a professional traffic survey and has determined as a result thereof that it is to the best interest of the Village that speed limits within residential areas be lowered from 30 miles to 25 miles per hour in residential areas, but that the 30 miles per hour will remain in industrial areas: NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois: Section 1. That the first paragraph of Section 14.322 be amended to read as follows: "14.322 Speed restrictions.) It shall be unlawful to drive any motor vehicle on any street not located in an industrial zone and not under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Works and Buildings, State of Illinois, or County of Cook and DuPage, in the Village at a speed in excess of 25 miles per hour. It shall be unlawful to drive any motor vehicle on any street in an industrial zone and not under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Works and Buildings, State of Illinois, or Counties of Cook and DuPage at a speed in excess of 30 miles per hour. The industrial zone of Elk Grove Village, for this purpose is defined as being any portion of the Village lying north of Higgins Road, and both north and south of Landmeier Road and east of the west boundary of Tonne Road." Section 2. Any person, firm or corporation violating the fore- going section shall be fined not less than 45.00 nor more than $200.00 for each offense. Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law. PASSED and APPROVED this 23rd day of August, 1966.
