AN ORDINANCE REGULATING TAXI -CABS.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and
Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties
Of Cook and DuPage, Illinois:
Section 1. That Section 22.1121 of the Municipal Code
of Elk Grove age which prescribes the penalty for violations
of any of the provisions of Article XI of Chapter 22 of the
Municipal Code be and is hereby renumbered so henceforth it
shall be designated as Section 22.1123.
Section 2. That there is hereby added a new section
22.1121.oareead—aas follows:
"22.1121 Subject to the conditions and limitations of
this Article, exclusive permission and authority are
hereby granted to the licensees hereunder to operate
the taxicabs licensed hereunder upon the public streets
and other public ways within the Village limits unless
terminated or revoked as hereinafter provided.
It shall be unlawful and the Village will not per-
mit any public passenger vehicle not licensed hereunder
as a taxicab business within the Village of Elk Grove
Village or to accept for transportation any passengers
within the Village of Elk Grove Village, excepting only
passengers destined to the community in which such
public passenger vehicle is licensed and then only when
such transportation has been arranged for in advance
by telephonic or written order."
Section 3. That a new Section 22.1122 be added to the
Municipal 37 -the Village of Elk Grove Village to read as
follows:
"22.1122 Nothing in this Article shall be construed to
prohibit any public passenger vehicle from coming into
the Village to discharge passengers accepted for trans-
portation outside the Village. While said vehicle is
in the Village no roof light or other special light
shall be used to indicate that the vehicle is vacant or
subject to hire, and a white card bearing the words
"Not For Hire" printed in black letters not less than
two inches in height shall be displayed at the windshield
of the vehicle. No person shall be solicited or accepted
in said vehicle for transportation from any place within
the Village."
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from ani alter its passage, approval and publication
according to law.
