AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 23 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE
VILLAGE BY ADDING THERETO ARTICLE VIII
RULES FOR THE USE OF P RRKKS
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois
SECTION 1. That Chapter 23 of the Municipal Code of the Village of
Elk Grove Village be and is hereby amended by adding thereto the following:
"ARTICLE VIII. RULES FOR THE USE OF PARKS.
Section 23.801. No person shall bring or lead any dog into any
park in the Village.
Section 23.802. No person over the age of six years shall use
pre-school recreational equipment in any village park.
Section 23.803. The Park Director is directed to post the
appropriate signs in the village parks as to the rules set forth in
Sections 23.801 and 23.802.
Section 23.804. All persons are forbidden from throwing stones
or rocks in any public park in the village.
Section 23.805. No person shall use a BB gun, sling shot, or
any other device propelling a missile in any village park.
Section 23.806. No person shall play golf or propel a golf
ball nor use bows and arrows in any public park in the Village.
Section 23.807. No person shall drive or ride in a motor driven
vehicle in any public park in the village.
Section 23.808. No person shall use a motor driven model
airplane, car or rocket in any public park in the village.
Section 23.809. No person shall use indecent language in any
public park, nor shall any person commit any obscene or indecent
act therein.
Section 23.810 No intoxicated person shall enter, be or remain
in any public park, nor shall any person bring into, sell, give away,
or drink any intoxicating liquor or beverage in any public park in the
village.
Section 23.811. No person shall play baseball, softball or
football in any park except in places designated for such by the
Recreation Director. In determining which areas shall be so
designated the Recreation Director shall take into account:
a - The safety of persons and property.
b.- The recreation needs of the community.
No area shall be so designated unless appropriate signs have been
posted in the area by the Recreation Director.
Section 23.812. All areas designated by the Recreation Director
as provided for in Section 23.811 shall be available on a first come,
first serve basis unless a permit has been issued for the use of said
area or a regularly authorized park activity is scheduled in which
event the holder of the permit or the park activity shall have priority.
All permits shall be signed by the Recreation Director and contain the
following information:
a - The designated area to be used.
b - The duration of the permit.
c - The name of the person applying for same and the
group or organization he represents.
The permit shall be issued on a first come, first serve basis
except that organizations or groups resident to Elk Grove Village
shall be given a priority over other applications.
The Recreation Director and the Chief of Police of the Village
shall have the right to cancel any permit issued if any person or
group to whom the permit has been issued violates any park rule or
ordinance of the village.
Section 23.813. Any person, firm or corporation violating
the provisions of this Article shall be fined not less than Fifty
Cents 4.50) nor more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200) for each
offense and each day such violation shall continue shall be regarded
as a separate offense."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, approval and publication according to law.
