HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 252 - 9/20/1962 - TAXICAB LICENSEORDINANCE NO. 252 AN ORDINANCE A14ENDING TAXI CAB LICENSE ORDINANCE OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois: Section 1. That Section 22.1111 of the Municipal Code of Elk Grove Village be and is herby amended to road as follows: "22.1111. Rates of Fare - Meters. No taxi cab shall be operated unless it is equipped with a meter in good condition to record the amount to be charged on cath trip, which amount shall be shown in figures visible to the passenger. Upon demand by the passenger, the driver of the taxi cab shall give to the passenger a receipt showing the amount paid, the name of the company and person operating the taxi cab and the number of the taxi cab. It shall be unlawful for a passenger to fail or refuse to pay the lawful fare at the termination of the trip. The charge for taxi cab service shall not exceed 25� for the first 1/3 mile or portion thereof and 10� for each mile succeeding 1/4 mile or fraction thereof, provided that if more than one passenger is carried on a trip there may be an additional charge of 10� for each such additional passenger, 10� for each two minutes of waiting time; the hourly rate shall not be more than $3 per hour. No extra charge shall be made for baggage or parcels tho size of which permits them to be carried in the taxi cab." Section 2. That Section 22.1120 of the Municipal Code of Elk Grove Village shall be amended to read as follows: "22.1120. Abandonment. If any licensee on whose behalf such a cortificato has boon issued shall fail to operate all or any of the taxi cabs covered by such certificate for a period of fourteen consecutive days, the certificate may be revoked or modified by the commission so as to cover and authorize .only the number of cabs actually operated:" Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and offect from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law. PASSED this 20th day of September, 1962.
