AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A WATER SPRITIIMING
BAN IN THE VILLAGE OP ELK GROVE VILLAGE
WHEREAS, due to the lack of rain and excessive demand for crater in the
Village of Elk Grove Village, and
WHEREAS, the existing water producing facilities are not sufficient to
meet the demand of all kinds of and types of grater usage in the Village, and
W41EREAS, for the reasons stated there exists an emergency demand for
water during certain months of the year which requires that restrictions be placed
on the use of water for the sprinkling of lawns and shrubbery during the period
commencing June 1 and ending September 15 of each year, and
4MERFAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove
Village deem it to be necessary to the public health, safety and welfare that the
foregoing regulations restricting the use of water be observed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of m-ustees of
the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and Du Page, Illinois:
Section 1. That Chapter 22A of the Municipal Code of Elk Grove Village
be amended by adding thereto Article VII to read as follows:
"ARTICLE VII. Restriction on the use of water for sprinkling.
Section 22 A 701. Dui' -.,.ng the period commencing June 1 through
and including September 15 the following restrictions on the sprinkling of laims
and shrubbery with water furnished by the Village shall prevail.
A - All persons who reside or occupy premises designated by a
street address which is an even number shall be permitted to sprinkle on even num-
bered days of the week and on no other days.
B - All persons who reside or occupy premises designated by a
street address which is an odd number shall sprinkle on the odd numbered day of
the week and on no other days.
Section 22 A 702. Penalty. Any person, firm or corporation
who sprinkles water or consents to the sprinkling of water on lawns or shrubber,
other than as provided for above shall be fined not less than $5.00 nor more th,.n
$200.00. A separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during, or ca
which a violation recurs or continues. Any person, firm or corporation who shall
persist in violating the provisions of this ordinance after a warning sh^.11 be sub-
ject to having his or its water service terminated for a period not to e.ccc:d twenty-
four hours.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in fu''.l force and effect from and
after its passage, approval and publication according to law.
