HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 207 - 12/11/1961 - VILLAGE PROSECUTORORDINANCE N0. 207 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE OFFICE OF VILLAGE PROSECUTOR NOW, THEREFORE, BL IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook County, Illinois: Section 1. That there be added to the Municipal Code of Elk Grove Village the following: "4.106. Creation of the office of Village Prosecutor: ''Appointment: There is hereby created the office of Village Prose- cutor, an executive office of the Village. The Village Prosecutor shall be appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees. Section 4.107. Duties of the Village Prosecutor: "It shall be the duty of the Village Prosecutor to assist the Village Attorney by attending all proceedings before a justice of the peace or police magistrate that involve prosecution for violation of a village ordinance or State Statute wherein the Village is authorized to prosecute and to prosecute such cases on behalf of the Village. He shall advise and assist all Village officers or employees on questions of law involved in filing complaints, making arrests and preparing for prosecution for ordinance violations. He shall also represent the Village in all appeals from decisions rendered by justices of the peace or police magistrates in cases involving a prosecution for violation of an ordinance or Statute." Section 2. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law. PASSED this 11th day of December, 1961.
