HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 214 - 1/8/1962 - DRIVEWAY SPECS./AMENDEDORDINANCE NO. 214 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 11,204 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE PROVIDING FOR DRIVEWAY SPECIFICATIONS NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook County, Illinois: Section 1. That Section 11.204 of the Municipal Code of Elk Grove Village be and is hereby amended to read as follows: 1111,204. Specifications, Driveways across sidewalks shall be constructed in compliance with the following: "(a) Driveways for Residential Property: "Driveways for residential property shall be constructed of either Portland Cement Concrete or a two inch asphalt surface. "If constructed of Portland Cement Concrete, they shall have a thickness of not less than five inches. "If constructed of asphalt, the asphalt surface shall be two inches thick and the thickness of the gravel or crushed stone base shall be eight inches. "The maximum width of the driveway at the property line shall be twenty feet, "The maximum width of the driveway at the curb shall be twenty-six feet. "(b) Driveways for Commercial Property: "Commercial driveways shall be constructed of the same material as that specified for residential. driveways and of the same thickness, "The maximum width of the driveway at the property line shall be thirty-five feet. "The maximum width of the driveway at the curb shall be forty-one feet. "(c) Driveways for Industrial Property: "Driveways for industrial property shall be constructed of either Portland Cement Concrete or of gravel or crushed stone base with a three inch asphalt surface. "If constructed of Portland Cement Concrete, they shall have a thickness of eight inches. "If constructed of gravel or crushed stone base with a three inch asphalt surface, the thickness of the base shall be ten inches. "The maximum width of the driveway at the property line shall be thirty-five feet. "The maximum width of the driveway at the curb shall. be forty-one feet. "(d) Wider Driveways: "Driveways wider than that above specified may be constructed only with the approval of the President and Board of Trustees. "(e) Driveway Material: "If Portland Cement Concrete is used, the concrete shall contain not less than five bags of cement per cubic ,yard of concrete. "If gravel is used, it shall consist of tough, durable particles, reasonably free from an excess of soft and unsound material and other objectionable matter. -1- Ord. #214 "Crushed stone shall be free from clay or other objectionable material and the voids in the stone shall be completely filled with stone screenings. "In constructing asphalt or concrete driveways in Industrial Areas, curbs shall be removed and the driveways shall be so constructed as to make a union with the street." Section 2. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication, according to law. PASSED this 8th day of January, 1962.
