OF THE VILLAGE of ELK GROV17 VILLAGE AND AMENDING OP,DIIIAiuCE
No. 166.
NOW,, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAIefED by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and
DuPage, Illinois:
Section 1. That the salaries for policemen of the Village of
Elk Grove Village shall be and are hexpby established to be as follows:

per annum
- for a policeman with
less than one year
police experience.

per annum
- for a policeman with
one year but less
than two years police
experience.

per annum
- for a policeman with
two years but less
than three years police
experience.

per annum
- for a policeman with
three years police
experience.
Police experience as used herein shall include services as a law
enforcement officer with the Village of Elk Grove Village's regular
Police Department and service with any other villa e, county, state
or federal regualr police department.
Section 2. Permanency of employment with the police depart-
ment of the Village of Elk Grove Village shall not be considered in
salary determination.
Section 3, idithin 10 days from passage of this ordinance or
at the time of hiring a new policeman the Police and Fire Commission
of the Villa.,,e shall ascertain and verify a policeraants prior police
experience if any. Police experience shall be co)aputed to the nearest
month. Periods of less than 15 days shall be disregarded. Periods
of more than 15 days shall be computed as a full months experience.
Upon ascertainment of a policeman's experience the Secretary of 'ehe
Police and Fire Commission shall transmit to the Villa e Treasurer
the followin„ information:
A - The name of the policeman.
B - The effective date of employment r!ith the Village of
Elk Grove Village's Police Department.
C - Prior police experience expressed in months.
Duplicate copies of the foregoing shall be sent to the Chief of Police
and the Chairman of the Public Safety Committee of the Board of Trustees
of the Village.
Section 1f. All pay increases resulting either directly or in-
directly from police experience acquired as a member of the Police
department of the village shall be effective on the first day of the
pay period 7,herein falls the policeman's annual experience anniver-
sary. In deter.ining the policeman's experience anniversary date
prior police experience with other police departments as well as
service with the police department of the Village of Elk Grove Vill-
age shall be considered.
Section 5. That the salaries of the policemen of the Village
of Elk Grove Village who have obtained the ranks indicated below
are hereb established as follows:

RANK SALARY per ANNUM
Sergeant

Lieutenant

Captain

Said salaries to be effective on the first day of the pay period in
which the policeman obtains the rank indicated above.
Section 6. That the salaries of the policemen of the Village
of Elk Grove Village who have obtained the ranks indicated below shall
be increased as follows:
RANK IJCREASE
Ser`eant $300,00 per annum for each year
of service in the rank
indicated. However, the
salary paid shall not exceed
v>7,200 per annum.
Lieutenant $300.00 for each two years of
service in the rank
indicated. However, the
salary paid shall not
exceed $7,800.00 per annum.
Said increases to be effective on the first day of the pay period
precedin-I the date the policeman obtaiis the ser:,ice time
noted above.
Section 7. Upon attain,ient of the rank of Sergeant, Lieutenant
or Captain by any policeman, the Police and Fire Commission shall
notify the Village Treasurer as to the date when said einploy:ent
status and rank were effective.
Section 8. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after March 1, 1962 and its passage and approval according
to law.
