AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING TO
FACILITATE SNOW? REMOVAL AND PROVIDING
FOR THE TOWING AND STORAGE OF CARS
PARKED IN VIOLATION THEREOF
FHEREAS, it is deemed necessary that snow be promptly removed from
pubU# streets and thoroughfares to facilitate the movement of public traffic
and especially the movement of emergency vehicles, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary to the accomplishment of the afore-
mentioned purpose that vehicles parked in violation of this ordinance be
towed and stored,
NOIu, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of True -
tees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook County, Illinois, as followas
Section 1 It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or coppora-
tion to park or cause to be parked arW vehicles on any public street within
the corporate limits of the Village of Elk Grove Village at any time within
twelve (12) hours after a snow fall of two (2) inches or more has occurred,
unless within said time said public street has been cleared of snow.
Section 2 The Police Department of the Village of Elk Grove Village
and all meWr—s-719reof are hereby authorized to remove and tow away or have
removed and towed away by commercial towing service or by village operated
vehicles any car or other vehicle illegally parked which prevents and ob-
structs snow removal from public streets.
Section 3 Cars or vehicles so towed away for illegal parking shall
be storeda sae place and shall be restored to the owner or operator of
such vehicle upon the payment of the towage and storage fees. The towage
fees shall not exceed Fifteen ($1,5) Dollars. The storage fees shall not ex-
ceed One (41) Dollar per day.
Section 4 Penalty: Any person, firm or corporation violating a:y
provision o is ordinance shall be fined not less than Two (�2) Dollars
nor more than Ten (410) Dollars for each offense. A separate offense shall
be deemed committed on each day during or on which a violation occurs or con-
tinues. This penalty provision shall be in addition to any towage or storage
charge which the owner or operator has been compelled to pay as heretofore
set forth.
Section 5 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its
passage, appr�and publication according to lana.
