HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 171 - 5/22/1961 - SPEED OF TRAFFIC ON UNPAVED STREETSCRDINANCE NO. 171 AN CRDINANCE REGUTATING THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC OE VEHICLES ON ROADS OR. STREETS WHICH ARE NOT PAVED CR NOT SURFACED WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village considers it to be to the best interests of said Village and its residents that the speed of vehicles traveling upon unpaved and unsurfaced roads and streets in said Village be specially regulated; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cbok County, Illinois: Section 1. That no person shall drive or operate a vehicle upon any public road or street in the Village of Elk Grove Village which is unpaved or unsurfaced at a speed greater than is reasonable and proper. If the rate of speed of any motor vehicle operated on any public road or street in the Village of Elk Grove Village which is unpaved or unsurfaced exceeds twenty— five (25) miles per hour, such rate of speed shall be prima facie evidence that the person uperating such motor vehicle is running at a rate of speed greater than is reasonable and proper. Section 2. That every person found guilty of violating Section 1 of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of nut less than Five 05.00) Dollars nor more than Two hundred($200.00) Dollars for each offense. Section 3. That all ordinances of this Village in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage, approval and publication according to lam. PASSED this 22nd day of May, 1961. APPROVED this 22nd day of May, 1961. s/ James A.
