A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM (NIMS)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook and DuPage Counties of Illinois, as follows:
Section 1: That the Emergency Response to critical incidents, whether natural or
manmade, requires integrated professional management.
Section 2: That the Unified Command of such incidents is recognized as the
management model to maximize the public safety response.
Section 3: That the National Incident Management System, herein referred to as
NIMS, has been identified by the Federal Government as being the requisite emergency
management system for all political subdivisions.
Section 4: That the failure to adopt NIMS as the requisite emergency
management system may preclude reimbursement to the political subdivision for costs
expended during and after a declared emergency or disaster and for training and
preparation for such disasters or emergencies.
Section 5: That it shall be the public policy of this Village to adopt the NIMS
concept of emergency planning and unified command.
Section 6: That it shall be the policy of this Village to train public officials
responsible for emergency management.
Section 7: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval according to law.
