AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-3-6, PARKING REGULATIONS, OF
THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE BY
PROVIDING FOR PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON OVERSIZED
NON -RECREATIONAL VEHICLES
Whereas, the Judiciary, Planning and Zoning Committee of the Village of Elk
Grove Village, at a public hearing and at a public meetings, held thereafter, considered
the question of enacting parking regulations for oversized vehicles; and,
Whereas, the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village,
after having considered the recommendation and finding of the Judiciary, Planning and
Zoning Committee, fmd and believe it to be in the best interest of the Village that certain
parking regulations with respect to oversized non -recreational vehicles be enacted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, an Illinois Home Rule Municipality, Counties of
Cook and DuPage Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That Section 6-3-6-9 Penalty be and the same is hereby renumbered to
Section 6-3-6-10�
Section 2: That a new Section 6-3-6-9 be established, which Section shall be as
set forth on Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated.
Section 3: That the Village Clerk is authorized to publish this ordinance in
pamphlet form.
Section 4: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
May 1, 2005.

Section 6-3-6-9. Parkine and Storaee of Oversized Non -Recreational Vehicles and
Equipment
1. It shall be unlawful for any person to keep, maintain, park, or store any non -
recreational motorized or tow -type vehicle or equipment in any residential zoned district
in the Village except as provided in this section.
2. The parking and storage of non -recreational motorized and tow type vehicles shall be
permitted within the front yard of property in residential zoned districts provided that
such vehicles adhere to the following size restrictions;
a. The overall length of the vehicle or combination of vehicles, including the
tongue of any trailer does not exceed a length of twenty-five feet (25'); twenty
feet (20') if the vehicle or trailer has a tandem axel.
b. The overall height, including temporary appurtenances, shall not exceed eight
feet (8').
c. The overall width shall not exceed nine feet (9')
For the purpose of these regulations, when a tandem axel trailer is hitched to an otherwise
permitted tow vehicle, the length of the overall combination of vehicles cannot exceed
twenty-five feet (25'). No such combination vehicle, regardless of its length, shall be
permitted to overhang or block the public sidewalk.
The temporary parking of school buses exceeding the above referenced dimensions for
height and width, but not exceeding an overall length of twenty-five feet (25'), shall be
permitted within the front yard of property in residential zoned districts on school days
between the hours of 6:OOAM and 6:OOPM as long as no portion of the vehicle overhangs
or blocks the public sidewalk.
3. Non -recreational motorized and tow -type vehicles in excess of any of the size
limitations, may only be parked and stored in single family residential districts in the rear
lot of the building, inside a garage area, or in a side yard, not fronting a street, but behind
the front building line and further provided that they conform to all other conditions
contained in the Zoning Ordinance applicable to the parking of vehicles. Not more than
one non -recreational motorized or tow type vehicle exceeding the dimensions identified
in Paragraph 2 shall be parked or stored on a lot in a residential zoned district.
4. Notwithstanding the preceding regulations, it shall be unlawful to park or store the
following non -recreational vehicles or equipment within the front yard area of any
residentially zoned lot: open trailers used to transport construction vehicles and
equipment and/or the equipment itself including but not limited to; landscaping and lawn
maintenance equipment, bobcats, backhoes, asphalt rollers, street sweepers, wood
chippers, cement mixers, generators, compressors, etc., and materials, supplies and tool
not affixed to an otherwise permitted vehicle, including but not limited to snowplow
blades, ladders, scaffolding, etc. The parking of otherwise permitted vehicles with a
snowplow blade attached shall be limited to the period of time between November 1 st
and April 30th and the vehicle to which the snowplow blade is attached shall be parked in
such a manner that the snowplow blade is facing away from the public view from the
street.
