A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE PRESIDENT AND VILLAGE
CLERK TO EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN TERMINI
IMERESE, SICILY, ITALY AND THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
FOR PROMOTING FURTHER FRIENDSHIP AND GOODWILL (SISTER CITY)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and
DuPage, State of Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That the Village President be and is hereby
authorized to sign the attached documents marked:
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof as if fully
set forth and the Village Clerk is authorized to attest said
documents upon the signature of the Village President.
Section 2: That this Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval according to law.

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
SISTER CITIES
VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
AND
TERMINI IMERESE
Based on a Sister City relationship between the Village of Elk
Grove Village, Illinois, United States of America and Termini
Imerese, Sicily, Italy promoting further friendship and goodwill
both cities agree to the following:
1. To support and encourage mutual visits by the citizens of
both cities.
2. To support establishing friendship affiliates between
schools and organizations of both cities.
3. To promote cultural exchanges in the areas of art, music,
the performing arts and others, along with sports
activities.
4. To encourage exchanges in academics and education by
working with local high schools and area colleges of the
respective sister cities.
5. To develop a mutual understanding of the citizens of both
cities by exchanging various information and material.
6. To encourage official visits between representatives from
each community. The representatives can include, but are
not limited to, civic leaders, church leaders, business
leaders, school, and government officials.
The carrying out of the above agreement will be the
responsibility of the Sister Cities Associations of both cities
and the cities pledge to extend their support.
Now Therefore the Honorable Mayor of the Village of Elk Grove
Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of Illinois and the
Honorable Mayor of Termini Imerese, Sicily, Italy, on behalf of
the two communities, affix our signatures to confirm this
Memorandum of Understanding dated this 10th of October 2000.
