A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE PRESIDENT AND VILLAGE
CLERK TO EXECUTE A STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN
AMERICAN RED CROSS OF GREATER CHICAGO AND ELK GROVE VILLAGE
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and
DuPage, State of Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That the Village President be and is hereby
authorized to sign the attached documents marked:
STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING
AMERICAN RED CROSS OF GREATER CHICAGO
a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof as if fully
set forth and the Village Clerk is authorized to attest said
documents upon the signature of the Village President.
Section 2, That this Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval according to law.

Statement of Understanding
American Red Cross
of Greater Chicago
and
Village of Elk Grove
In disaster situations, local government and the Red Cross have joint responsibility to keep the public
informed on restoration and relief activities, as well as the assistance available. Accordingly, the
Village of Elk Grove and the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago agree that:
1) The American Red Cross and the Village of Elk Grove will each provide disaster relief
services according to mandate, policies and procedures of their individual
organizations.
2) Both organizations will endeavor to coordinate efforts and maintain communications
to maximize timely and comprehensive services to disaster victims and prevent
duplication of efforts.
3) Requests by the Village of Elk Grove for government assistance from the Red Cross
will be relayed through village officials to the Red Cross.
4) Vehicles operated by or for the Red Cross, which are identified by placard or signage
as Red Cross vehicles, will be considered authorized vehicles for the purpose of
proceeding to or entering a disaster site.
S) Each organization agrees to continue cooperative efforts in the areas of disaster
preparedness, training and planning.
The parties hereto agree to attempt, in all respects, to coordinate efforts between the two in
accordance with the terms of this Agreement and the responsibilities enumerated herein to best serve
the community.
