A RESOLUTION HONORING JACK A. CLAES
WHEREAS, Jack A. Claes will be retiring as the first Executive Director of the Elk Grove
Park District on March 1, 1995; and
WHEREAS, Jack A. Claes has been the Director of the Elk Grove Park District for the last
twenty-nine years guiding it from its infancy to its maturity, and
WHEREAS, Jack A. Claes has received numerous awards during his years of service including
the Illinois Park and Recreation Association Special Facilities Professional of the Year, Illinois
Park and Recreation Association Professional Citation Award, and the National Gold Medal in the
Field of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, under his direction the Elk Grove Park District has grown to be model for
other communities, including the development of 39 parks covering 473 acres, 3 olympic size
swimming pools, 11 tennis courts, the Pirate's Cove Theme Park, the 18 -hole Fox Run Golf
Course, Rainbow Falls Water Park, and the Pavilion Fitness Center; and
WHEREAS, under the auspices of Jack A. Claes' leadership the Elk Grove Park District has been
awarded numerous honors in the field of parks and recreation; and
WHEREAS, his outstanding leadership, vision, creativity, and initiative as Director of the
Park District has benefitted the entire community and made it a better place to live; and
WHEREAS, the people of Elk Grove Village need only look at the parks, recreational facilities,
and community buildings to see the tremendous impact of his untiring dedication, innovative
programs, and ambitious delivery of public services.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That Jack A. Claes is hereby commended for his leadership, vision, and commitment to
the highest public service standards which have earned him the sincerest appreciation of the
citizens of Elk Grove.
Section 2: That on behalf of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Jack A. Claes is hereby extended
our sincerest wishes for good health and happiness in his retirement.
