HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 6-94 - 1/25/1994 - HONORING STEPHEN BERRY RESOLUTION NO. 6-94 A RESOLUTION HONORING STEPHEN D. BERRY WHEREAS, Stephen D. Berry started his career as a Science Teacher at a High School in Michigan in 1956, where he taught until his move to District 214 in 1964. In District 214 he has been a Teacher, Assistant Principal , Principal , and Superintendent. He was appointed to the Superintendency in 1986; and WHEREAS, Dr. Berry has earned degrees at Bowling Green State University, Eastern Michigan University, and Vanderbilt University. HP earned a Doctorate in Educational Administration at Vanderbilt in 1984. He also attended the University of Michigan on a National Science Foundation Academic Year Institute; and WHEREAS, Dr. Berry actively participated in numerous state and national professional educational organizations as well as in many civic and community organizations; and WHEREAS, he has served as a vice president and volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America Northwest Suburban Council for 23 years and was recognized with the Good Scout Award in 1987 and 1993; and WHEREAS, under his leadership District 214 schools have been presented with the United States Office of Education "Excellence in Education/Blue Ribbon School " awards on three occasions and in 1992 Dr. Berry was awarded the THOSE WHO EXCEL AWARD OF EXCELLENCE by the Illinois State Board of Education. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of Illinois as follows: Section 1. That Stephen D. Berry is hereby commended for his dedication to the education of young people in our area and do hereby extend their "THANK YOU" to Dr. Berry for his contributions to the community over the past 30 years. Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon passage and approval according to law. PASSED this 25th day of January 1994. APPROVED this 25th day of Januar 1994. Dennis J.
