A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE NORTHWEST SUBURBAN BIKEWAYS MAP
WHEREAS, THE Village of Elk Grove Village has coordinated a Bikeways
Planning Group within the Northwest suburbs; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Group is represented by the Villages of Elk Grove
Village, Schaumburg, Hanover Park, Streamwood, Bartlett, Roselle, City of
Elgin, representatives from Cook and Du Page County Forest Preserves, DuPage
County Planning Department; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Plan shows planned inter -community bikeway
connections and link with the Fox River Trail and the Illinois Prairie
Path; and
WHEREAS, the Plan represents a coordinated inter -community planning
effort; and
WHEREAS, federal and state funding sources require proposed projects be
part of an adopted bikeways plan; and
WHEREAS, this Northwest Suburban regional plan provides continuity and
guidance all communities in this area undertaking bikeways planning; and
WHEREAS, this plan will add credence to future bicycle grant
applications; and
WHEREAS, the Plan addresses an objective in our Bikeways Plan by
working with other entities to create a regional bikeways network; and
WHEREAS, the proposed bicycle paths provide excellent commuting and
recreational opportunities for residents of our community and the
surrounding area and will greatly add to the quality of life in general;
and
WHEREAS, bicycle facilities help relives traffic congestion by
providing individuals with alternative forms of transportation to shopping,
employment and recreational amenities; and
WHEREAS, the use of bicycle paths promotes physical fitness and good
health in general.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and Du Page, State of
Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That the Village President and Village Clerk hereby are
endorsing the Northwest Suburban Bikeways map.
Section 2: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval as provided by law.
