September 9, 1994 Director of Engineering, Elk Grove Village 90 1 Wenington Ave. Elk Grove, IL 60007 Dear Mr. Boffice, Thank you for giving me the opportunity to appeal to the Village to *11ow us to continue operation of the game room at Elk Grove Bowl in the same manner as It presently exists. The majority of the games at Elk Grove Bowl are located in the game area of our billiard room. The reason we chose to put the games there is so we could monitor the area from the front desk and maintain order and crowd control at all times. This room has housed 15 games since permission was given 2 112 years ago to build it. The character of Elk Grove Bowl would only be changed if we are required to remove theme games. For over 30 years Elk Grove Bowl has maintained order with only a minimum of minor disturbances (none relating to amusement games). It is a place where Village residents can enjoy bowling, billiards, games, food and drink in a safe, wholesome, family environment. The games at Elk Grove Bowl are not the primary source of Income for us but they are integral to our continued success. Diversification in the recreation industry is essential in todays competitive environment. Todays bowling center needs to offer various entertainment options, and games Are an accepted and expected activity here as well as at other bowling centers. We am appealing to the village to allow us to continue operation with the number of games that we currently have. Our reputation for clean, healthy, family fnn is most important to us. I assure you that we will do all we can to maintain it. I look forward to hearing from you. Respectfully yours, Gary S. Handier Elk Grove Bowl Inc.
