A RESOLUTION IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE ILLINOIS DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE
ACT BY THE VILLAGE OF ELK .GROVE VILLAGE
WHEREAS, the General Assembly of Illinois has recognized the
dangers of drug abuse in the workplace and stated that it shall be
policy of the State of Illinois to require drug free workplaces for
any agency receiving State Funds; and
WHEREAS, the General Assembly has adopted the Drug Free Workplace
Act of 1990 for the purpose of eliminating the costs and hazards of
drug abuse in the workplace; and
WHEREAS, the Act requires that the Village of Elk Grove Village
shall make information concerning the Act and its application known
to its employees . t
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and
Dupage, State of Illinois as follows :
Section 1: That the Village hereby intends to comply with the
Illinois Drug Free Workplace Act by making a good-faith effort to
maintain a drug-free workplace by publishing the attached policy
stating that it is unlawful to manufacture, distribute, dispense,
possess or use an illegal substance in the workplace; specifying
disciplinary actions performed against any employee who is in
violation of the policy; that employees notify the Village of any
criminal drug statute conviction for a violation occurring in the
workplace no later than three (3) days after such conviction; that
assistance is available if required through existing health care
benefits; and the employees supervisor can provide information on
such benefits .
Section 2 : That the Village of Elk Grove Village agrees to notify
the awarding agency of known violations within ten (10) days of
notification by the employee and to take appropriate disciplinary
actions against the employee or require employee participation in
an approved assistance or rehabilitation -program within thirty (30)
days of notification by the employee .
Section 3 : That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval according to law.
