Boffice, Director Engineering and Community Development Village of Elk Grove Village 901 Wellington Avenue Elk Grove Village, Illinois 60007 Re: Traffic - Intersection Control Nerge Road and Devon Avenue CCH B 1113 Section 0928A Dear Mr. Boffice: We have completed our traffic study of the captioned intersection as requested in your letter of October 16, 1989. An analysis of the manual traffic count taken on October 3, 1989 together with the accident data provided by your Police Department indicates that traffic signals are warranted. The system would be installed to include left turn indications for all approaches and pedestrian signals for the east/west movement. No geometric widening will be necessary. The total cost of this system is estimated at $90,000 with $240 per month for maintenance and $90 per month for operation. Should the Village be agreeable to assuming 33% of these costs, in accordance with County policy, please counter sign the copy of this letter and return it to the Department. Enclose a certified copy of either an enabling resolution or Village Board minutes authorizing you to to thus commit the Village to it's 33% share. The County will thereupon design and install the signal system, cause it to be maintained and energized and be responsible for settings and timings. The Village agrees to pay its share as determined above, estimated at $30,000, being one third (337) of the cost. The County will send a first statement for one sixth (1/6) of the installed contract price at the award of the contract and a second statement for the balance of the Village share of the contract price (adjusted if necessary) following inspection of the completed installation. The Village agrees to pay each statement within thirty (30) days of its date. Please continue ............... - 2 - Re Traffic - Intersection Control After inspection of the signal system the Village agrees to: a. Pay the County one third (33%) of the maintenance charges, within thirty (30) days of the County's quarterly (3 month) statement for the same. b. Assume one third (33%) of the electrical energy charges, payable to Commonwealth Edison Company in accordance with an electrical services contract to be entered into with that Company. These payments to the County of its share of the contract and maintenance charges should be by check, payable to the Treasurer of Cook County, for deposit into the County's Motor Fuel Tax Account 600-570, and sent (or delivered) to the County Superintendent of Highways. Very truly yours, Xw Tenn W. Fred riche Superintendent of Highways The County of Cook Accepted by the Village of Elk Grove Village this 13th day of February , 1990. President
