HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 3-87 - 1/13/1987 - PERSONNEL RULES & REGS AMENDEDRESOLUTION NO. 3 87 A RESOLUTION AMENDING SECTION 3.2 II, RESIT AND SECTION 3.12, PROBATIONARY PERIOD OF THE PERSONNEL RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows: Section 1: That Section 3.2 (II) Residency and Section 3.12, Probationary Period of the Personnel Rules and Regulations of the Village of Elk Grove Village are hereby amended as set forth on Exhibits "A" and "B", attached hereto and by this refer- enced incorporated herein. Section 2: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law. VOTES: AYES: _5 NAYS: 0 ABSENT: 1 APPROVED: Charles J. Any applicant who is hired or promoted to fill the following positions: Village Manager Assistant Village Manager Chief of Police Fire Chief Director of Finance Village Engineer Building Commissioner Health Coordinator Community Service Coordinator Director of Public Works Village Clerk on or after November 1, 1984 must become a bonafide resident of the Village of Elk Grove Village within eighteen (18) months of their employment date. B. The establishment and continued residency in the Village shall be a condition of continued employment. Failure to comply with this continued residency requirement shall result in immediate termination of employment from the Village. C. All other personnel employed by the Village, are exempt from the above Residency Rule, except, however, all sworn personnel are required to be bonafide residents of an area within a fifteen (15) mile radius of the Village Hall, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, Illinois. EXHIBIT "B" 3.12 Probationary Period A. All regular, full time, non -sworn employees upon residency requirements of Section 3.2, II A. herein, are required to serve a six (6) month Performance Probationary Period commencing on the date of their employment or promotion. B. Those employees hired into or promoted into those positions listed in Section 3.2, II A. shall serve a six (6) month probationary period which shall be referred to as the Performance Probation and an additional twelve (12) month probationary period which shall be referred to as the Residency Probation. C. Regular, full time, sworn personnel shall serve a twelve (12) month probationary period which shall be referred to the Performance Probation and an additional six (6) month probationary period which shall be referred to as the Residency Probation. D. During the Performance Probationary Period, the employee has the obligation to demonstrate proper attitudes and abilities for the position for which employed. The employee may be dismissed without prior notice, hearing or cause during the Performance Probationary Period. Employees who are certified by their Department Head to have successfully completed the Performance Probationary Period shall be immediately placed into the Residency Probationary Period upon the approval of the Village Manager. E. The Residency Probationary Period shall be for the purpose of determining compliance with Section 3.2 of these Personnel Rules and Regulations. An employee who fails to comply with such Section (3.2) shall be subject to dismissal without prior notice, hearing or cause. Upon compliance with the Residency Probationary Period requirement, the employee will be certified as a permanent employee.
