Envision Elk Grove
The Committee heard an informational presentation from the Envision Elk Grove consultant team. The consultant team consists of representatives from Vandewalle & Associates Inc, Engineering
Resource Associates, Gary Weber Associates, Inc., and Opportunity Alliance, LLC.
Phases of the project include (1) Data Gathering, (2) Existing Conditions, (3) Concepts Development – Alternatives, (4) Concept Finalization & Prioritization, (5) Funding & Implementation,
(6) Adoption. The current status of the project is Phase 3: Concepts Development - Alternatives.
The presentation included an explanation of the proposed redevelopment site concept alternatives, showcasing opportunities for what the sites could possibly develop into in the future.
The presentation also included corridor design options for ten of the main corridors in the community. Some of the proposed enhancements at the major corridors included community branding
opportunities such as streetlights, fencing, gateway signs, crosswalks, utility boxes, and others.
The consultant team shared that they are working on reviewing Business Services and Business Park Enhancements next. They will be generating a recommendation for streamlined processes
relating to Business Services in addition to proposing some improvements for the appearance of powerlines and rail as part of Business Park Enhancements.
There will be an open house on April 11 for the public to offer input on the proposed redevelopment site concepts and corridor enhancements.
Following the open house, the consultant team will work on Phase 4, which is concept finalization and prioritization.
Feedback from the Committee was in favor of the proposed ideas for uniform fencing, branding, lighting and landscaping.
Mayor Johnson shared that the Village will take advantage of opportunities to begin trying new things such as testing some streetlights as part of the new development at Arlington Heights
Road and Higgins to see what they look like and gather feedback.
The Committee expressed support for the Envision Elk Grove Community Revitalization Plan.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:49 p.m.
