A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE ACT
WHEREAS, there exists an urgent need to upgrade and expand the capital
facilities and infrastructure of units of local government; and
WHEREAS, Federal funding reductions combined with shifting economic
conditions have impeded efforts by units of local governments to provide the
necessary improvements to their infrastructure systems in recent years ; and
WHEREAS, an adequate and well maintained infrastructure system throughout
this State can offer significant economic benefits and an improved quality of
life for all citizens of this State: and
WHEREAS, distribution of federal loan funds to the units of local govern-
ment to supplement or leverage existing sources of financing for infrastructure
will assist such units of local government in achieving the goal of upgrading
and expanding the capital facilities and infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, there exist currently in the United States Congress several bills
pending in regard to infrastructure loan programs for the individual states of
this nation which would benefit the State of Illinois.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook and DuPage Counties, Illinois:
Section 1 . That the Village of Elk Grove Village strongly urge the
members of the United States Congress to pass pending legislation regarding
infrastructure loan programs for the states of this nation.
Section 2. The Village Clerk is hereby authorized to forward copies of
this Resolution to the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives,
Thomas P. O'Neill ; Senate Majority leader, Robert Dole; New Jersey Congressman
James J. Howard, Senators Simon and Dixon, and all members of the Illinois
Congressional delegation.
Section 3• That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval according to law.
