MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES ON TUESDAY, APRIL 9, 2024
The Public Hearing was called to order on April 9, 2024, at 7:09 p.m. and was held in the
Council Chambers of the Charles J. Zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk
Grove Village, Illinois.
Present: Mayor Craig B. Johnson
Trustees Joseph D. Bush, Jeffrey C. Franke, Kathryn A. Jarosch,
Tammy K. Miller, Stephen F. Schmidt
Absent: Trustee Christine K. Prochno
Also Present: Village Manager Matthew J. Roan
Village Attorney George B. Knickerbocker
Village Clerk Loretta M. Murphy
Mayor Johnson called the Hearing to order and announced the purpose of the Public Hearing was
to allow discussion of the proposed budget for the Village of Elk Grove Village fiscal year
2024/2025, which begins May 1, 2024. The Village Board previously reviewed all departmental
budget requests and the Village Manager's recommendations prior to this hearing.
Mayor Johnson introduced the Director of Finance, Christine Tromp. Ms. Tromp stated the
Budget Workshop was held on March 19a' to discuss the department requests. The Public Notice
was published in the Daily Herald, in accordance with state statutes, on March 29, 2024, for
tonight's Public Hearing.
The total proposed budget is $229,562,697, which represents a decrease of $451 thousand or 1 %
compared to the current year adjusted budget, which can be attributed to construction projects.
The Mayor and Board have been gracious to support the Departments again in the proposed
balanced budget, which allows us to remain committed to maintaining Elk Grove Village as the
exceptional community. The Village remains financially strong, and we have planned
accordingly with a five -month reserve policy. The budget is presented under item p on the
consent agenda for your consideration.
Mayor Johnson asked if there were any comments or questions from the Village Board and/or
anyone in the audience.
The Public Hearing adjourned at 7:1 1 p.m.
