The Board reviewed the compensation analysis and proposed recommendations from the Village
Manager. The Board asked whether there would be requirements to qualify for the tuition
reimbursement and the Village Manager advised the policy would include a caveat that the
employee must work for the Village for 24 months after completing the tuition reimbursement
and that the degree must relate to their profession.
The vacation rollover proposal will allow for employees to rollover no more than one week of
vacation. Previously, the vacation rollover was only allowed with special permission by the
Village Manager.
The Village has an existing policy that when a Department Head has been in their position for at
least 10 years, they are automatically moved to the top of their range. As a result, the Fire Chief
and Finance Director will automatically be moved to the top of their new salary range. Village
Manager Roan advised that he would work with the Executive Team to create a proposed policy
for review by the Village Board.
The Village Manager advised that Mount Prospect recently approved 17.5% pay increases for
some positionsand that surrounding towns like Schaumburg and Rolling Meadows are
conducting compensation studies as well. Arlington Heights has contacted the Village for the
`- results of our compensation study. The consensus of the Board was to grant permission for staff
to draft the policies for consideration.
The consensus of the Board was to approve the proposed salary ranges and policy considerations
outlined by the Village Manager Roan in his September 23, 2022 memo. The Village Manager
will bring back proposed policies for tuition reimbursement and vacation rollover for review and
consideration by the Village Board,
The meeting was adjourned at 7:03 pm.
