The Board reviewed the revised layout of Elk Grove Woods Plaza Shopping Center from
Wingspan. The overall square footage of the retail space has been slightly minimized. In
addition, the revision includes more parking spaces for retail. The Board discussed the progress
on the Shell Gas Station and the Village Manager explained that remediation will be required
due to spillage from the last time the underground tanks were removed. The Board discussed that
only the residents living in the apartment complex will have access to the south entrance of the
parking garage. The parking garage will include parking spaces for commercial and retail
visitors, in addition to certain levels of the parking garage will be dedicated for only residents of
the complex.
The consensus of the Board was in favor of the improvements to the parking and general layout
of the shopping center in the revised site plan. The Board discussed the announcement of the
developer will be made at the first meeting in January. In addition, the consensus of the
Committee was that the next steps will include a request for revised elevations and create a plan
to share the new elevations with the public by the end of spring or early summer.
The Board discussed that a part of the timeline will include meetings between the developer and
commercial tenants to discuss any special requests for their businesses. The developer will then
create a plan and present a list of the requests and what they would cost to the Village.
The Board also discussed the possibility of Jarosch Bakery choosing to close and not being a part
of the redevelopment. Ken Jarosch has mentioned retirement in the past, and this development
may be the time the bakery chooses to close its doors.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:40 pm.
