WHEREAS, Douglas E. Peterson has been the Elk Grove High School Band
Director for the past fifteen years; and
WHEREAS, Douglas E. Peterson and the Elk Grove High School Band have
brought honors to our Village with their musical performances; and
WHEREAS, under the direction of Douglas E. Peterson the Elk Grove
High School Band has performed at many prestigious events including:
fourteen (14) Chicago Bear Football Games; one (1) Green Bay Packer Football
Game; two (2) appearances at County Stadium, Milwaukee; two (2) appearances
for the Lions in the Silver Dome; six (6) appearances at the Wisconsin State
Fair; and at Purdue University; and
WHEREAS, Douglas E. Peterson and the Elk Grove Band were invited to
play for the National Band Director's Convention and every year took top
honors at the Chicagoland Music Festival; and
WHEREAS, Douglas E. Peterson and the Elk Grove Band were specifically
singled out to play at the music festival in Montreaux, Switzerland; and
WHEREAS, a White House invitation was extended to Douglas E. Peterson
and the Elk Grove High School Band to play for President Reagan on his
recent Chicago visit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois;
Section 1: That Douglas E. Peterson is hereby commended
for his artistic achievement, self sacrifice
and dedication given to the Elk Grove High
School Band.
Section 2: That this Resolution shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage and
approval according to law.
