A RESOLUTION DECLARING MAY 9TH THROUGH MAY 15TH, 1983 AS
"SPECIAL OLYMPICS WEEK" IN THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
WHEREAS, the Northwest Special Recreation Association is a community
based program offering leisure services to the area special residents; and
WHEREAS, the Association conducts an ongoing variety of leisure
services to approximately 2,500 special residents on a monthly basis; and
WHEREAS, there will be a variety of community activities available
during "Special Olympics Week" including a golf outting,a cook -out for the
athletes, coaches and involved community leaders; and
WHEREAS, the week will be culminated with the actural Special
Olympics Area Track and Field Meet to be held at Harper College on
May 15, 1983; and
WHEREAS, each of the athletes participating in Special Olympics at
the area meet have the ability to qualify for the state games that will
be conducted at Illinois State University.
Section 1: That May 9th through May 15th, 1983 is proclaimed
"Special Olympics Week" in the Village of Elk Grove Village and urge
all residents to attend and support this very worth endeavor.
Section 2: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval according to law.
