Johnson, Trustees Joseph D. Bush, Jeffrey C. Franke and Kathryn A. Jarosch Tammy K. Miller, Christine K. Prochno, Stephen F. Schmidt ABSENT: None A Quorum was present. Also Present: Village Manager Matthew J. Roan, Village Attorney George B. Knickerbocker, and Deputy Clerk Jennifer Mahon 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF AUGUST 13, 2024 - Motion to approve the Minutes of the Regular Village Board Meeting held on AUGUST 13, 2024 as submitted and dispense with the reading. Moved by Trustee Prochno Seconded by Trustee Bush The motion was voted upon by acclamation. MOTION CARRIED 4. MAYOR & BOARD OF TRUSTEES' REPORT - Mayor Johnson — The Parade will be on Saturday, September 21. On August 28, we had a Ribbon Cutting/Grand Opening at Alexian Brothers Hospital/Ascension the new expansion wing for Neurology Department opened up. Grecian Delight celebrated their 50th Anniversary that same day. We gave them a proclamation thanking them for being a part of this community for so many years. We spoke to District 59 regarding our Student Resource Officer and the DARE program. We presented to District 59 and we will soon have 3 officers that are SRO certified. We have one at Grove Junior High, we have one at Elk Grove High School, one at Meade Junior High that also meets with Stevenson and Link to make some contact with the children. We have now proposed a SRO officer for the 5 grade schools on the west side one day a week. We have expanded the DARE program to all of the schools. Received a $105,000 Grant for Cameras for Police from the State of Illinois. Elk Grove Cares Program received a $145,000 grant from the State of Illinois. In 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 we averaged about 20 people in those years. Starting 2022, 2023 and 2024 the numbers shot up to almost 80 people in those years. The program is doing phenomenal and it is making a difference. Mayor thanked the residents for all the Thank you notes for the Gift Cards. The Village has given back $12 million in 4 years. Mikerphone Brewing presented a check to the Elk Grove Youth Committee and the Elk Grove Park Foundation at $8,400 each with total donations collected was $16,800 at their annual "Smells like a Brew Fest" that started back in 2015. Page 1 of 7 Trustee Bush — Happy Birthday to my son Michael today. Trustee Miller — Dr. Homan will be offering the Free Dental Service Day on Friday, September 27, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The program is designed to help people that do not have regular dental care. Trustee Franke — Oktoberfest will be September 20 from 6-11 p.m. by Rotary Green. On Saturday, September 21, we will have children's activities from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. after the Parade. The menu QR codes will tell you how many tickets everything will cost. You should have received a post card in the mail as well. Trustee Prochno — The Summer Farmers Market will continue every Saturday through the end of October from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 13 & Saturday, September 14 will be the Elk Grove Senior Center Rummage Sale at the Al Hattendorf Center from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Sheila Ray Center. I am honored to be the Grand Marshal of the Parade. The Parade steps off at 2:00 p.m. Trustee Schmidt — I attended the Ribbon Cutting at Jarosch Bakery. I also attended the Alexian Brothers Ribbon Cutting for the Neurology expansion. Also that day I went to the Grecian Delight's 50th Anniversary Celebration. I attended the JAWA meeting. Last night, Trustee Miller and Trustee Prochno and myself met to discuss the Sister Cities Student Exchange Program. We will have about 12 students coming in from the Sister City in Italy coming in the 2nd week of October. The parents and the students at Elk Grove High School are very excited to host a student. In addition we will have some doctors come over to meet with doctors at Alexian Brothers. Tomorrow is the 23rd Anniversary of the tragic event of 9/11. Please remember the 3,000 lives that were lost. Trustee Jarosch — Just a reminder that PADS begins on October 6 at the Christus Victor Lutheran Church. They are looking for Volunteers. If interested in serving you can reach out to Ann DeBartolo at Christus Victor Church. This information is also in the newsletter. YOUTH COMMITTEE - Trustee Bush — The Jean Recycling Event will be on September 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to drop off at the circle drive on Elk Grove Boulevard. Any sort of denim. 15. INFORMATION COMMITTEE - Trustee Miller — The Citizen's Police Academy registration is open until September 27. This is a free 18 week program for those 18 years or older. Coffee with the Cop Day is on Wednesday, October 2 to meet our Police Officers and receive a free cup of coffee at the McDonald's on Meacham from 7:00-9:00 AM. The Fire Department Open House is having Fire Prevention Week on October 5 from 12-3 PM. The theme is Smoke Alarms make sure that they work for you and other activities. Halloween House Decorating Contest Entries must be received by October 16. Register with LionBarbara&comcast.net if you are interested in participating. 16. PUBLIC COMMENT — 7:48 PM The resident for the ZBA hearing at 793 Delphia Court showed up a meeting early for the vote on the fence variation. The Zoning Board of Appeals had a hearing on August 22, 2024 for a Variation of the Zoning Ordinance. The petitioner at 793 Delphia Court is seeking to construct a 10' high fence intol4'feet into the front yard setback. By a vote of 6-1 the Zoning Board is recommending approval to the Board. Motion to authorize the Village Attorney to prepare the ordinance for the fence variation for property located at 793 Delphia Court.
