A RESOLUTION HONORING THE ELK GROVE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM
WHEREAS, the Elk Grove High School Girls Basketball Team has
distinguished itself by becoming the 1981 State of Illinois Class "AA"
Girls Basketball Champions; and
WHEREAS, the Elk Grove Grenadiers provided their fans an excellent
season highlighted by winning the Dundee Classics, York Invitational
Basketball Tournament, Mid -Suburban League Championship, Girls Regional
Basketball Championship, Girls Sectional Basketball Championship and
the Girls Super Sectional Championship; and
WHEREAS, recognition is given to Principal Donald M. Fyfe; Athletic
Director Robert Tipsword and to his Assistant, Joanne Jones; to Coaches
Marcia Gordon, Dave Jacobson, Joseph Baoudakis and Betty Mathews; Managers
Jill Blix and Shelly Schreiber; Trainer Kim Darling and the following
team members:

Robin Cormier
Lori Juliano
Faith Mimnaugh
Debra Pasko
Elizabeth Sass
Karen Hellyer
Yoshie Kabeshita
Kimberly Kobus
Kathleen Leyden
Laurie Van Haften
WHEREAS, special recognition is also given to Elk Grove High School
Teacher Larry Tanaka, for his enthusiasm and inspiration to all team
members and as Official Score Keeper and Team Photographer; and
WHEREAS, the Championship was won as a result of the overall deter-
mination, self-sacrifice and dedication displayed by all of the above
mentioned.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of
Illinois, as follows:
Section 1: That the Elk Grove High School Girls Basketball Team is
hereby commended for the honor they have bestowed upon the Village and the
High School by winning the 1981 Class "AA" Girls Basketball State
Championship.
Section 2: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval according to law.
