HomeMy WebLinkAboutMayor CoronavirusReliefPackageProcVILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE CORONAVIRUS RELIEF PACKAGE PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village has suffered from the nationwide COVID-19 Pandemic which has severely affected the community as evidenced by the closing of businesses and schools as well as the stay-at-home executive order of the Governor; and WHEREAS, State Statute and Village Ordinance permit, under certain circumstances such as a national disaster, that the Mayor, as chief executive officer of the Village, may take such action which authorizes the furnishing of aid or assistance to the Village as deemed necessary and appropriate; and WHEREAS, such aid and assistance normally associated with public health, safety and welfare can likewise be authorized and thus utilized for economic purposes when economic conditions within the Village are drastically affected by the existent natural disaster; and WHEREAS, as a result of efficient financial planning and the efficient providing of government services, the Mayor has determined that the Village is fortunate to have the economic means to assist both residential and commercial residents during this crisis period. NOW, THEREFORE, by Proclamation of Mayor, Craig B. Johnson, there is hereby established a Coronavirus Relief Package which shall provide the following economic assistance to Elk Grove Village residential and commercial residents: Coronavirus Relief Package Utility Billing Credit - Effective May 1, all single-family and multi -family residential residents who have individual or separate utility accounts with the Village, shall receive a $200.00 credit on their accounts. A grace period on late fees will be extended to May 31. All multi -family residential utility users wherein utility services are paid by the users Condominium or Homeowners Association shall likewise be eligible for a $200.00 credit through the following arrangement between the Village and the Association: At such time as the Association provides the Village with sufficient evidence that the Association has given the member the applicable $200.00 credit on their Association fees or such other manner as deemed appropriate, the Village will reimburse the Association for the credit amount provided. II. Business License Fee Waiver - All commercial business license fees, which shall become due on June 1, 2020 shall be deemed waived for the license period of June 1, 2020 through May 31, 2021.
