Pursuant to a duly made and approved motion and a majority vote at a regularly scheduled meeting
of the Mayor and Board of Trustees on May 9, 2023, this Executive Session was called to consider
review of Personnel.

The Board discussed providing Fire Battalion Chiefs 1-1/2 times pay for overtime assignments,
when they are brought in to backfill due to vacation, illness, etc. Out of 12 comparable
communities, 11 of the 12 already provide this benefit for Battalion Chiefs. Trustee Schmidt
inquired about the Police Department Commanders. The Village Manager stated the Police
Department currently has enough commanders to cover two shifts and that he will assess whether
there is any further action needed with Richard Mikel.
The consensus of the Board was to approve up to 1-1/2 times pay for overtime assignments for
Fire Battalion Chiefs.
