A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE TO ENTER INTO
A MUTUAL FIRE AID AGREEMENT WITH THE ELK GROVE RURAL FIRE PROTECTION
DISTRICT
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of
Illinois;
Section 1. That the Village President is hereby authorized to sign the
attached agreement marked "Mutual Fire Aid Agreement" with the Elk Grove
Rural Fire Protection District, a copy of which is attached hereto and made
a part hereof as if fully set forth and the Village Clerk is authorized to
attest said document upon the signature of the Village President.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval according to law.

MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT
These Articles of Agreement, made and entered into on the
day of A.D. 19_ by and between the Elk Grove Rural
Fire Protection District and the Village of Elk Grove Village
SECTION ONE - PURPOSE
The purpose of this agreement is to provide for a program of Mutual Aid
between the Elk Grove Rural Fire Protection District and the Village of
Elk Grove Village
whereby the Aiding Municipality
will be obligated to respond to the Stricken Municipality with such equipment
and manpower as has been predetermined by the Fire Chiefs of each municipality
through the Box Alarm Assignments.
SECTION TWO - DEFINITIONS
For the purpose of this agreement, the following terms are defined as
follows:
A. "Municipality": A City, Village or Fire Protection District
having a recognized Fire Department;
B. "Mutual Aid": A definite and prearranged written agreement and
plan whereby regular response and assistance is provided for in
event of alarms from certain boxes or locations in a Stricken
Municipality by the Aiding Municipality in accordance with the
Box Alarm Assignments as developed by the Fire Chiefs of each
Municipality;
C. "Participating Municipalities": A Municipality that commits itself
to this Mutual Aid Agreement by adopting a resolution authorizing

Protection District, County of Cook, State of Illinois:
Section 1. That the Trustees are hereby authorized to sign the attached
document marked Mutual Fire Aid Agreement with the Village of Elk Grove
a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof as if fully set
forth and the Secretary is authorized to attest said documents upon the sig-
nature of the Trustees.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and approval according to law.

participation in the program with another participating Municipality
for rendering and receiving Mutual Aid in the event of a fire or
other disaster in accordance with the Box Alarm Assignments;
D. "Stricken Municipality": The Municipality in which fire or other
disaster occurs that is of such a magnitude that it cannot be ade-
quately handled by the local Fire Department;
E. "Aiding Municipality": The Municipality furnishing fire equipment
and manpower to the Stricken Municipality.
SECTION THREE - AGREEMENT TO
EFFECTUATE THE MUTUAL AID PLAN
The Village President, Mayor, or Board of Trustees of each participating
Municipality is authorized on behalf of that Municipality, to enter into and
from time to time to alter and amend on the advice of the Fire Chief and with
the consent of the governing body of that Municipality, and agreement with
another Municipality for Mutual Aid according to the following:
1. Whenever a fire or disaster is of such magnitude and consequence
that it is deemed advisable by the Senior Officer present, of the
Stricken Municipality, to request assistance of the Aiding Munici-
pality, he is hereby authorized to do so, under the terms of this
Mutual Aid Agreement and the Senior Officer present of the Aiding
Municipality is authorized to and shall forthwith take the following
action.
a. Immediately determine what equipment is required according to
the Mutual Aid Box Alarm Assignment.
b. Immediately determine if the required equipment and personnel
can be committed in response to the request from the Stricken
Municipality.
C. Dispatch immediately the equipment required to the Stricken
Municipality, in accordance with the Box Alarm Assignments.
2. The rendering of assistance under the terms of this Mutual Aid
Agreement shall not be mandatory in accordance with the Box Alarm
Assignments if local conditions prohibit response. In that event
it is the responsibility of the Aiding Municipality to immediately
notify the Stricken Municipality of same.
3. Both of the participating Municipalities agree to waive all claims
against the other party for compensation for any loss, damage, per-
sonal injury or death occurring in consequence of the performance
of this Mutual Aid Agreement. General Liability Insurance, Per-
sonal Injury and Property Damage Insurance against loss or damage
of equipment is the responsibility of each of the Municipalities
as it applies to their own personnel and equipment. All services
performed under this Mutual Aid Agreement shall be rendered without
reimbursement of either Municipality.
4. The Senior Officer present of the Stricken Municipality shall assume
full responsibility and command for operations at the scene. He
will assign Senior Officers and equipment of the Aiding Department
to positions when and where he deems necessary.
S. The Fire Chief, Officers and personnel of both Municipalities are
invited and encouraged to frequently visit each others facilities
for familiarization tours, and to jointly conduct training sessions
and hypothetical disaster exercises.
SECTION FOUR - INSURANCE
It is a requirement for each participating Municipality to be responsi-
ble for their own Comprehensive and Bodily Liability Insurance to cover all

of their own manpower and equipment and apparatus while operating in any Com-
munity. It is further the responsibility of each participating Municipality
to provide full and complete Liability Insurance.
SECTION FIVE - TERMINATION
This Mutual Aid Agreement may be terminated by either participating Munic-
ipality notifying, in writing, the Fire Chief of the other Municipality of the
termination. Whereupon the Mutual Aid Agreement shall be terminated 90 days
after receipt of the written notice to the Fire Chief.
SECTION SIX - ADOPTION
This Mutual Aid Agreement shall be in full force and in effect with the
passage and approval of a companion resolution by both participating Munic-
ipalities in the manner provided by law and the signing of this Agreement by
the Village President, Mayor, or Trustees of a Fire Protection District.
