S. Supreme Court decree which limits the amount of water to be taken from Lake Michigan for all purposes; and WHEREAS, the metropolitan area water resources have been exhaustively analyzed to produce an overall plan for the judicious use and preservation of those limited natural resources predicated on the Tunnel and Reservoir Plan; and WHEREAS, certain Allocations of Lake Michigan Water have been made in reliance on the benefits of the Tunnel and Reservoir Plan, and future Allocations are dependent on completion of that plan; and WHEREAS, short range and long range plans to provide adequate and high quality public water supplies throughout the region cannot be prudently im- plemented without completion of the Tunnel and Reservoir Plan; and WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village, and its residents, its businesses and its industries are dependent on completion of the O'Hare Water Reclamation Plant for public health reasons; and WHEREAS, The Village of Elk Grove Village and its residents, its businesses and its industries are relying on the present and continuing Allocation of Lake Michigan Water because of diminishing ground water supplies: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village that: 1. The Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chicago, through its President and Trustees, proceed to implement and complete the Tunnel and Reservoir Plan as heretofore approved, and 2. The Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chicago, through its President, Trustees and Staff take steps to achieve economies and efficiencies in the Tunnel and Reservoir Plan without compromising the public health or the public water resources; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law, and that copies of it be made available to persons and organizations who may be interested in this vital public project.
