A RESOLUTION HONORING THE ELK GROVE HIGH SCHOOL JAll BAND
WHEREAS, the Elk Grove High School Jazz Band has distinguished itself
by receiving top awards at a three State Jazz Competition; and
WHEREAS, the three State Jazz Competition was held at Western Illinois
University in Macomb, Illinois, where the Elk Grove High School Jazz Band
received the Best -In -Class 4A trophy and the Best -Of -Festival trophy in
competition with Bands from Illinois, Iowa and Missouri; and
WHEREAS. in addition to the Band awards, seven Elk Grove High School
students received outstanding musical awards - Scott McCormick, trumpet;
Scott Cadelina, drums; Mark Strelau, string bass; Mark Putterman, guitar;
Jeff Howe, tenor sax; Kevin McCormick, drums; and Mike Golemo, Jazz soloist.
WHEREAS, the Elk Grove High School Jazz Band also won top honors at
contests held in Oak Lawn on February 4, 1978 and at the Eastern Illinois
University Jazz Festival held on February 15, 1978; and
WHEREAS, Musical Director Douglas Peterson and Assistant Director Gary
Parker and the following band members:

made this possible.

WHEREAS, the recognition and honors were granted as a result of artistic
achievement, overall determination, self sacrifice and dedication displayed
by the above mentioned directors and band members.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of
Illinois as follows:
Section 1. That the Elk Grove High School Jazz Band is hereby commended
for the honors they have bestowed upon the Village and High School by their
excellence in musical achievement.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval according to law.
