HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 25-78 - 4/11/1978 - SUPPORTING MERIT SELECTION OF JUDGESRESOLUTION NO. 2 5,7 b A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE MERIT SELECTION OF JUDGES IN THE STATE OF ILLINOIS WHEREAS, Project Merit Selection of Judges is a non-partisan state wide effort to promote adoption in Illinois of an acceptable system of merit selection of Judges; and WHEREAS, a 60% favorable vote of each house of the Illinois General Assembly to propose a constitutional amendment to be submitted to the electorate is necessary six months prior to the general election, November 7, 1978; and WHEREAS, such a proposed constitutional amendment patterned after the Missouri Plan for judicial selection has been submitted to the Illinois General Assembly: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village: Section 1. That the Village of Elk Grove Village supports Project Merit Selection of Judges and urges the General Assembly to propose an acceptable constitutional amendment by April 30, 1978, to be submitted to the electorate. Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law. PASSED this lith day of April 1978.
