HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 57-78 - 7/11/1978 - DIRECT GOV THOMPSON RESOLUTION NO. 57-78 A RESOLUTION DIRECTED TO THE HONORABLE JAMES THOMPSON, GOVERNOR OF ILLINOIS, URGING APPROVAL OF SENATE BILL 1419 DELAYING THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF ELECTION CONSOLIDATION IMPLEMENTATION WHEREAS, a two year delay in the effective date of Election Consolidation implementation would give local officials time to study and incorporate changes in the election codes of the municipalities; and WHEREAS, additional time is also necessary in order that provisions relating to costs of elections and adequate financial planning can be orderly undertaken at the local level ; and WHEREAS, the far reaching effects of the provisions of election consolidation need futher consideration and review. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois: Section 1 . That the Village of Elk Grove Village strongly urges your approval of Senate Bill No. 1419, delaying the effective date of Election Consolidation Implementation. Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law. PASSED this llth day of July , 1978. APPROVED this 11th day of July , 1978. CHARLES J.
