The Board met with David Dorn, Chief of Police candidate for an interview this afternoon. The
Mayor inquired how the Board felt about the candidate. The Board expressed support for the
candidate.
The Mayor provided a breakdown of the interview process and explained that Dorn was the top
candidate to bring forward to the Board. The Mayor shared that Dorn has prior experience with
turning around a Police Department and getting everyone back on track.
The Mayor advised that the next steps will include a physical, background check, and contacting
Dorn with a formal offer. The Mayor also shared that he will be contacting the Mayor of
Barrington to inform her of the Village's decision and timeline. The announcement of the new
Chief of Police position will most likely be made at the next Village Board Meeting with Dorn
likely to start on March 25.
Trustee Schmidt recommended that down the line, the New Chief go to the "Policing in the 21 st
Century" training in the next few years to keep up with the training other management positions
have completed in the department.
The consensus of the Board was to support the appointment of David Dorn as the Chief of
Police.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:37 pm.
