A RESOLUTION DIRECTED TO THE RTA, OBJECTING TO THEIR NOT COMMUNICATING
WITH THE VILLAGE BOARD ON MATTERS RELATING TO ACTIVITIES WHICH AFFECT
THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
WHEREAS, the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) is entrusted_ by the
State to provide public transportation to a six county area including the
Counties of Cook and DuPage; and
WHEREAS, the RTA receives its authority and funding from elected officials
of the State General Assembly; and
WHEREAS, the State has decreed that the RTA should be responsive to its
entire populous including the suburbs of the greater Chicago area; and -
WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village is located in the Counties of
Cook and DuPage; and
WHEREAS, the Elk Grove Village President and Board of Trustees are the duly
elected representatives of the residents of Elk Grove Village; and
WHEREAS, the Elk Grove Village President and Board of Trustees represent
over 27,000 residents and a large industrial area; and
WHEREAS, the only notification concerning the RTA' s intent to develop an
industrial bus service in the Elk Grove Village Industrial Park was brought to
the Village Board' s attention through a local newspaper; and
WHEREAS, on August 2, 1977 , Village Officials met with RTA Board Member
Daniel Baldino at the Elk Grove Township Hall , at which the Village offered its
services to developing bus routes for the proposed service; and
WHEREAS, the RTA did not seek the Village' s participation until November 1 ,
1977, three months after said bus routes had been established.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of Illinois:
Section 1 . That the Village President and Board of Trustees acknowledges
and encourages development of all mass transit efforts in the Village of Elk Grove
Village including the Industrial Park bus service.
Section 2. That the Village President and Board of Trustees hereby strongly
object to the indifference demonstrated by the RTA toward the Village of Elk
Grove Village; to the gross lack of courtesy of the RTA to the Village of Elk
Grove Village, and to the RTA' s unwillingness to consult and communicate with the
public officials of the Village of Elk Grove Village concerning the development
of a bus service program within the Village of Elk Grove Village.
Section 3. That the Village Clerk is• hereby directed to transmit a
-copy of this resolution to the following:

Section 4. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and approval according to law.
