HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 56-76 - 8/24/1976 - SUPPORT JUVENILE COURT DECENTRALIZATION RESOLUTION NO. 56-76 A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF COOK COUNTY JUVENILE COURT DECENTRALIZATION WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village is part of the Third Municipal District of the Circuit Court of Cook County, which is one of the fastest growing portions of the Chicago Metropolitan Area; and WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village and the surrounding communities have a great need for juvenile court facilities in the area in order to curb the spread of juvenile crime and delinquency in the Northwest Suburban area; and WHEREAS, such regional handling of juvenile cases would remove a burden and reduce the backlog of cases now being sent to the Juvenile Court in Chicago and enable the suburban police and juvenile officers to operate without the great loss of effort, time and money now needlessly consumed; and WHEREAS, the responsibility of the local community for handling and disposing of many problems facing juveniles would be reaffirmed and strengthened by such regional action. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of Illinois, as follows: Section 1 : That the President and Board of Trustees do hereby support the efforts of the Northwest Municipal Conference to obtain juvenile court facilities in the Northwest Suburban area. Section 2: That copies of this resolution shall be transmitted to the Northwest Municipal Conference for consideration by the proper authorities. Section 3: That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law. PASSED this 24th day of August 1976_ APPROVED this24th day of August 1976.
