HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 25-74 - 3/26/1974 - METRO SANITARY DIST OF GREATER CHGORESOLUTION NO. 25-74 SUPPORTING THE EXISTING REVENUE PRODUCING SYSTEM PRESENTLY EXERCISED BY THE METROPOLI- TAN SANITARY DISTRICT OF GREATER CHICAGO WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village is within the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chicago, and WHEREAS, the Water Pollution Control Act of 1972 has been Interpreted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency to exclude the use of advalorem taxes as not constituting a proportionate means of sharing the costs of waste water treatment, and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chicago uses a system of advalorem taxes and industrial surcharge for operating revenues which the Village of Elk Grove Village considers to be fair and equitable, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook and DuPage Counties, Illinois that any revenue producing system that accomplishes an equitable distribution of costs between industrial and domestic classes of users for the maintenance and operation of sewage treatment facilities, on a cost effective basis as determined by the funded agency, should be deemed to meet the requirements of the federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972 and the rules and regulations implementing the Act. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook and DuPage Counties, that certified copies of this Resolution be distributed to United States Senators Charles H. Percy, Adlai E. Stevenson III, and Edmund Muskie; and United States Representatives Philip M. Crane and John Blatnik; and Russell E. Train, Director, Environmental Protection Agency.
