HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 11-72 - 2/22/1972 - SUPPORT A SINGLE MASS TRANSPORT AGENCYRESOLUTION NO. 11-72 A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF A SINGLE MASS TRANSPORTATION AGENCY IN THE COUNTIES OF COOK, DU PAGE, KANE. LAKE, MC HENRY, WILL. WHEREAS, there is an immediate need in the Northeastern Illinois Counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will, to meet the public mass trans- portation -needs of the citizens therein, and WHEREAS, the population of these six counties is in excess of 3,600,000 people., and WHEREAS, the citizens of the Village of Elk Grove Village are entitled to equal opportunity for good public mass transportation, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village of Elk Grove Village as follows: 1. That this Village Board recognizes the need for a single public mass transportation agency in the Counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will, and hereby supports the concept of such agency. 2. That the formation of such an agency and the funding thereof cause no diversion of present Village funds from local, State or Federal sources. 3. That it is imperative that all existing modes of public trans- portation be saved and augmented, thus forming the basis for providing future area transportation needs. 4. That representation on the governing board of such agency be, as much as is practical, on a one man -one vote basis. PASSED AND APPROVED this 22nd day of February 1972. ��.
