HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 33-72 - 5/2/1972 - OPPOSING SALES TAX COLLECTION CHARGESRESOLUTION NO. 33-72 RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE EXTREMELY HIGH COLLECTION CHARGES FOR SALES AND SERVICE TAXES BY THE STATE OF ILLINOIS WHEREAS, the State of Illinois has been collecting 4% of all local sales tax collections when _it has also determined for many years that the rate is excessive, and WHEREAS, local governments also have a revenue crisis along with the State of Illinois, and WHEREAS, this is a local tax and not a State of Illinois tax, it would seem that the State of Illinois should charge only those amounts necessary to effectively collect the tax, and WHEREAS, the Department of Revenue has determined that a collection fee of 2% is more than adequate, NOW, THEREFORE., BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of Illinois, that the State Legislature and Governor of the State of Illinois approve the reduction of 2% in the collection fees for all local governments concerned.
