ment is directly related to properly trained personnel,
WHEREAS, proper and adequate training of personnel must
begin with personnel standards and education,
WHEREAS, the Elk Grove Fire Department is desirous of
providing the most highly trained Firefighters,
WHEREAS, the objectives of Senate Bill No. 236 entitled
"The creation of the Illinois Fire Protection Personnel Standards
and Education Commission" are clearly spelled out as follows in
SECTION #1 LEGISLATIVE DECLARATION: It is declared as a matter of
legislative determination that in order to promote and protect the
heaZth, safety and welfare of the public, it is necessary and in
the public interest to provide for the creation of the "Illinois
Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education Commission" for
the purpose of encouraging and aiding municipaZities, counties
and other local governmental agencies of this State in their efforts
to raise the level of local fire protection by upgrading and main-
taining a high level of training for fire protection personnel. It
is declared to be the responsibility of the Commission to enourage
the participation of local governmentaZ units in.the programs estab-
Zished by the Commission and to aid in the establishment of adequate
training facilities.
NOW, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook and DuPage Counties, Illinois,

to hereby urge passage and enactment to Public LawANo. 236.
