A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE OF
ILLINOIS, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND BUILDINGS, TO .REDUCE THE POSTED
SPEED LIMIT ON THAT PORTION OF ILLINOIS
ROUTE 53 iATHICII LIES WITHIN THE CORPORATE
LIMITS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village of Elk
Grove Village have no jurisdiction to regulate the control of
traffic on State highways; and
WHEREAS, State Route 53 traverses the Village of Ell-,

Grove Village and abutts residential areas of the Village; and
WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village of Elk
Grove Village believe that the safety and welfare of the residents
of the Village are endangered by the high rate of speed presently
authorized for traffic on State Route 53.
NO,,T, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board
of Trustees of the Village of Ell-, Grove Village, Counties of
Cook and Du Page, Illinois, as follows:
Section 1: That the State of Illinois, Department of
Public Works and Buildings, is hereby requested to immediately
reduce to forty-five (45) miles per hour the maximum authorized
rate of speed for traffic along that portion of State Route 53
which lies within the Village of Elk Grove Village.
Section 2: That the Clerk of the Village is directed to
forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Director of
the State of Illinois, Department of Public Works and Buildings.

Section 3: That this resolution shall be in full force
and effect from and after its approval and passage -according
to law.
