A RE SOLUT I ON COMiMiE110RAT I NG THE 1 OOTH ANN I VERSARY
OF THE GREAT CHICAGO FIRE AND THE EFFORTS OF ITS
PEOPLE AND GOVERNING OFFICIALS
WHEREAS, the City of Chicago did in the year 1871 sustain a terrible
loss of lives and property, due to a great fire , and
WHEREAS, the people and its government , business and laboring people
did by great effort rebuild said City, until it is the Second City in
population and the First City by all other comparisons, celebrated in the
poetry of our age.
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED , by the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage , Illinois,
that said Village does hereby join 'vdith the City of Chicago in commemorating
the 100th Anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire and do honor its people, its
Mayor and its City Council in their efforts in rebuilding said City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED , that the Village of Elk Grove Village pledges
its fire fighting facilities to meet any threat of fire which may again
threaten, so that the event may never reoccur.
PASSED this 5th day of October 1971 .
