A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE OF ILLINOIS
DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH TO ESTABLISH A
MENTAL HEALTH CENTER FOR THE SCHAUMBURG/ELK
GROVE TOWNSHIP AREA
WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village of Elk
Grove Village established the Elk Grove Village Community Services,
a social service agency, in 1966, to meet the mental health needs
for youths and adults of the Village; and
WHEREAS, the number of residents served by this Agency has
increased tremendously, thus causing a need for expanded services ; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Mental Health is in the process
of restructuring the present planning area ; and
WHEREAS, the present planning area consisted of the communities
within Elk Grove, Palatine,Wheeling and Schaumburg Townships ; and
WHEREAS, this planning area should be divided into two areas :
Elk Grove and Schaumburg as one; and Wheeling and Palatine as the
other; and
WHEREAS, certain areas of Elk Grove Village are contained in
Schaumburg Township, which serves as a natural enhancement for joint
activity between the two townships ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and
DuPage, as follows :
Section 1 : That the State of Illinois, Department of Mental
Health, is hereby requested to establish a mental health center for
the Schaumburg/Elk Grove Township area .
Section 2 : That the Clerk of the Village is directed to
forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Director of the
State of Illinois Department of Mental Health.
Section 3 : That this Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval, according to' law.
